Description

This Steakhouse Burger Sloppy Joes recipe combines the rich, juicy flavors of a steakhouse burger with the comforting, saucy texture of a classic sloppy joe. Made with ground beef, a savory steak sauce, and topped with melty cheese, this quick and delicious meal is perfect for busy weeknights!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef (80/20 or leaner)
  • 1/2 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 cup ketchup
  • 1/4 cup steak sauce (such as A1 Sauce or homemade)
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tbsp Dijon mustard
  • 1/2 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1/2 tsp salt (adjust to taste)
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/4 cup beef broth or water (if needed, for consistency)
  • 4 burger buns, toasted
  • 4 slices cheddar cheese (or Swiss, provolone, or American)
  • 1 tbsp butter (for toasting buns, optional)
  • Pickles, lettuce, tomato, or crispy onions for toppings (optional)

Instructions

  • Cook the Ground Beef:

    • In a large skillet over medium-high heat, cook the ground beef until browned, breaking it apart with a spatula (about 5 minutes).
    • Drain excess grease if necessary.
  • Sauté Aromatics:

    • Add the chopped onion and garlic, cooking until softened (about 2-3 minutes).
  • Make the Sauce:

    • Stir in ketchup, steak sauce, Worcestershire sauce, Dijon mustard, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper.
    • Mix well and let it simmer for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
    • If the mixture is too thick, add ¼ cup beef broth to loosen it.
  • Assemble the Sloppy Joes:

    • Butter and toast the burger buns in a skillet for extra flavor (optional).
    • Spoon the meat mixture onto the bottom half of each bun.
    • Place a slice of cheese on top and let it melt.
    • Add toppings like pickles, lettuce, tomato, or crispy onions, then cover with the top bun.
  • Serve & Enjoy!

    • Serve immediately with fries, coleslaw, or a side salad for a complete meal.

Notes

  • Use ground turkey or chicken for a lighter version.
  • Swap cheddar for Swiss or provolone for a different flavor.
  • Add a dash of hot sauce for extra heat.
  • Make it extra steakhouse-style by topping with crispy bacon!
