Description

Loaded Cheese Fries are crispy, golden French fries topped with melted cheese, crispy bacon, green onions, and a dollop of sour cream. This indulgent dish is perfect as a side, appetizer, or snack, offering a satisfying combination of flavors and textures.

Ingredients

– 4 large russet potatoes, cut into fries

– 2 tablespoons vegetable oil

– 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese (or a mix of cheddar and mozzarella)

– 1/2 cup cooked bacon, crumbled

– 1/4 cup green onions, chopped

– 1/4 cup sour cream

– Salt to taste

– Freshly ground black pepper (optional)

Instructions

1. Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C).

2. Cut the potatoes into fries (about 1/2-inch thick) and toss them with vegetable oil and a pinch of salt.

3. Spread the fries evenly on a baking sheet in a single layer.

4. Bake the fries in the oven for 25-30 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden brown and crispy.

5. Remove the fries from the oven and sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese evenly over them.

6. Return the fries to the oven and bake for an additional 5 minutes or until the cheese has melted.

7. Remove from the oven and top with crumbled bacon and chopped green onions.

8. Serve immediately with a dollop of sour cream on top, and season with freshly ground black pepper if desired.

Notes

– You can add jalapeños for an extra kick if you enjoy a bit of spice.

– For a healthier version, bake the fries instead of frying them, or use sweet potatoes.

– If you prefer a non-bacon option, substitute with sautéed mushrooms or a vegetarian bacon alternative.
