Description
A refreshing and invigorating beverage that combines the antioxidants of green tea with the bright zest of lemon and the spicy warmth of ginger. Sweetened naturally with honey, this iced tea is perfect for a revitalizing drink on a warm day.
Ingredients
– 4 cups water
– 4 green tea bags (or 4 teaspoons loose green tea)
– 1-2 inches fresh ginger, thinly sliced or grated
– 1 lemon, juiced and thinly sliced
– 2-3 tbsp honey (adjust to taste)
– Ice cubes
– Mint leaves (optional, for garnish)
Instructions
1. Bring water to a boil in a medium saucepan.
2. Add the sliced or grated ginger to the boiling water and reduce heat to a simmer. Let it simmer for 5 minutes to extract the ginger flavor.
3. Remove the saucepan from heat and add the green tea bags (or loose tea). Allow the tea to steep for 3-5 minutes, depending on your desired strength.
4. Remove the tea bags or strain out the loose tea and ginger pieces.
5. Stir in the honey while the tea is still warm, then add the lemon juice.
6. Allow the tea to cool to room temperature, then refrigerate for at least 1 hour.
7. Serve the tea over ice and garnish with lemon slices and mint leaves, if desired.
Notes
– Adjust the amount of honey to suit your preferred sweetness level.
– For a more pronounced ginger flavor, allow the ginger to simmer a little longer.
– Fresh lemon slices add an extra burst of flavor and a decorative touch.
