Description

Crispy and golden hash browns made from shredded potatoes, perfectly seasoned and pan-fried to create a classic breakfast side dish. Enjoy a crunchy exterior with a tender interior.

 


Ingredients

– 2 large russet potatoes, peeled and shredded

– 1 small onion, finely chopped (optional)

– Salt, to taste

– Pepper, to taste

– 2-3 tbsp vegetable oil or butter for frying

– Optional: 1/4 tsp paprika or garlic powder for extra flavor


Instructions

1. Rinse the shredded potatoes in cold water to remove excess starch, then drain and pat dry thoroughly with a clean towel.

2. In a bowl, combine the shredded potatoes, chopped onion (if using), salt, pepper, and any additional seasonings.

3. Heat the oil or butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat.

4. Evenly spread the potato mixture in the skillet, pressing down lightly to form a flat, compact layer.

5. Cook for 5-7 minutes until the bottom is golden and crispy.

6. Carefully flip the hash browns in sections and cook for another 5-7 minutes until the other side is also golden and crispy.

7. Remove from the skillet and serve immediately.

 


Notes

– Ensure the potatoes are well-dried after rinsing to maximize crispiness.

– Adjust seasonings to taste; consider adding herbs like chives or parsley for extra flavor.

– For a healthier alternative, try baking in a preheated oven at 425°F for 25-30 minutes, flipping halfway through.
