Description

Perfect for Valentine’s Day or a romantic breakfast! These fluffy, chocolatey red velvet waffles are crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, and drizzled with cream cheese glaze.


Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted

  • 1 tbsp red food coloring
  • 1 tsp white vinegar

Instructions

  • Preheat the waffle iron and grease it lightly.
  • In a large bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  • In another bowl, whisk eggs, buttermilk, melted butter, vanilla extract, red food coloring, and vinegar.
  • Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  • Pour batter into the preheated waffle iron and cook according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
  • Remove waffles when crispy and cooked through.
  • Serve warm with cream cheese glaze, syrup, or fresh berries.

Notes

  • For extra crispiness, let the waffles cool on a wire rack instead of stacking them.
  • Substitute buttermilk with 1¾ cups of milk + 1 tbsp lemon juice if needed.
