Description

These Guava Puff Pastries are flaky, golden, and filled with sweet guava paste, making them the perfect tropical-inspired treat for breakfast or dessert.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1 sheet of puff pastry, thawed
  • 4 oz guava paste
  • 1 egg (for egg wash)
  • 1 tbsp water
  • Powdered sugar for dusting (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Roll out the puff pastry on a lightly floured surface and cut into 6 equal rectangles.
  3. Slice the guava paste into thin pieces and place in the center of half of the pastry rectangles.
  4. Top with the remaining pastry rectangles and press the edges with a fork to seal.
  5. Whisk the egg with water to make an egg wash and brush over the top of each pastry.
  6. Bake for 15–18 minutes or until golden and puffed.
  7. Let cool slightly before dusting with powdered sugar, if desired.

Notes

  • Use cream cheese along with guava for a richer filling.
  • Ensure the puff pastry is cold but pliable for easy handling.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container and reheat in the oven for best texture.
