Scale
- 1 medium head cabbage, shredded
- 3 tbsp olive oil (or butter)
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup heavy cream (or half-and-half for a lighter version)
- 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes (optional, for a spicy kick)
- Salt and black pepper, to taste
- 2 tbsp chopped fresh parsley (for garnish)
Instructions
- In a large skillet over medium heat, warm the olive oil (or butter).
- Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant, being careful not to burn it.
- Stir in the shredded cabbage. Toss to coat evenly and cook for 8–10 minutes until the cabbage softens and begins to brown slightly.
- Pour in the heavy cream and add the red pepper flakes (if using). Let the mixture simmer for 2–3 minutes until the cream slightly thickens.
- Reduce heat to low and stir in the grated Parmesan cheese. Continue stirring until the cheese melts into the sauce, coating the cabbage well.
- Season with salt and black pepper to taste.
- Garnish with chopped fresh parsley and serve immediately.
Notes
- For added brightness, finish with a squeeze of lemon juice.
- Serve this dish as a hearty side with grilled meats or as a comforting vegetarian main alongside crusty bread.
- Adjust the consistency by adding a splash of milk if the sauce becomes too thick.
