Description

Dubai Chocolate Balls with Pistachio Kunefe Filling are a decadent fusion dessert that combines rich chocolate with a crunchy, nutty filling inspired by traditional Middle Eastern flavors. The filling features toasted kataifi pastry blended with creamy pistachio butter, all encased in a smooth chocolate shell.

Ingredients

Units Scale

For the Filling:

  • 1 cup shredded kataifi (shredded phyllo dough), chopped into small pieces
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 3/4 cup pistachio butter
  • 2 tablespoons tahini (optional)

For the Chocolate Shell:

  • 200 grams milk or dark chocolate, melted

Instructions

  • Prepare the Kataifi:

    • In a pan, melt the butter over medium heat.
    • Add the chopped kataifi and toast, stirring continuously, until golden brown and crispy. This should take about 5-7 minutes.
    • Remove from heat and let it cool for 10-15 minutes.
  • Make the Filling:

    • In a mixing bowl, combine the cooled, toasted kataifi with the pistachio butter and tahini (if using). Mix until well incorporated.
    • Refrigerate the mixture for about 10 minutes to firm up slightly.
    • Once firm, divide the mixture into small portions and roll into balls, approximately 1 inch in diameter. Place them on a tray lined with parchment paper and freeze for at least 15 minutes to set.
  • Coat with Chocolate:

    • Melt the chocolate in a microwave-safe bowl, heating in 30-second intervals and stirring in between until smooth.
    • Using a fork or dipping tool, dip each frozen pistachio-kataifi ball into the melted chocolate, ensuring it is fully coated.
    • Place the coated balls back onto the parchment-lined tray.
    • Refrigerate until the chocolate sets, about 10-15 minutes.

Notes

  • For added texture, sprinkle chopped pistachios over the chocolate coating before it sets.
  • These treats can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a week.
