For the Brownies:
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter
- 1 cup Dr. Pepper (not diet)
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 3 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup cocoa powder (unsweetened)
- 3/4 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup chopped walnuts (optional)

Preheat Oven & Prepare Pan:
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Grease a 9×9-inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper.

Melt & Combine Wet Ingredients:
- In a small saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter with the Dr. Pepper until the butter is completely melted and the mixture is warm (do not boil). Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the granulated sugar, brown sugar, eggs, and vanilla extract until smooth.

Mix Dry Ingredients:
- In another bowl, sift together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.

Combine Batter:
- Slowly stir the cooled Dr. Pepper–butter mixture into the egg and sugar mixture until well combined.
- Gradually fold in the dry ingredients until just incorporated.
- If using, fold in the chopped walnuts.
Notes
- Pour the batter into the prepared pan and spread evenly.
- Bake for 25–30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with a few moist crumbs (avoid overbaking to maintain fudginess).
- Remove from the oven and let cool in the pan before cutting into squares.
