- 2 cups old-fashioned rolled oats
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1 cup sweetened shredded coconut
- 1 cup chopped pecans or walnuts (optional)
- 1 cup M&Ms or chocolate candies (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat.
- In a large bowl, cream together the butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing just until combined.
- Stir in the oats, chocolate chips, coconut, nuts (if using), and M&Ms or chocolate candies (if using).
- Drop tablespoon-sized portions of dough onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are golden and the centers are set.
- Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
- For a chewier texture, refrigerate the cookie dough for 30 minutes before baking.
- You can substitute the nuts and M&Ms with other add-ins like raisins, dried cranberries, or butterscotch chips.
