Ingredients
– 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
– 2 1/2 tsp baking powder
– 1/2 tsp salt
– 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
– 2 cups granulated sugar
– 4 large eggs
– 1 tsp vanilla extract
– 1/2 cup milk
– 1 tsp cotton candy flavor extract (adjust to taste)
– Cotton candy (for garnish)
Instructions
1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
3. In a large bowl, cream the butter and sugar together until light and fluffy.
4. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract and cotton candy flavor extract.
5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the creamed mixture, alternating with the milk. Mix until just combined.
6. Divide the batter evenly between the prepared pans.
7. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
8. Allow the cakes to cool completely on a wire rack.
9. Frost with your favorite buttercream (preferably with a touch of cotton candy flavor) and decorate with freshly made cotton candy just before serving.

– For a more pronounced cotton candy flavor, increase the cotton candy extract slightly.
