- 1 1/2 cups cottage cheese (low-fat or full-fat)
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup canned crushed tomatoes
- 1/2 tsp dried oregano
- 1/2 tsp dried basil
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 2 tbsp fresh basil (chopped, optional)
Instructions
- In a medium saucepan, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the garlic and sauté until fragrant, about 1-2 minutes.
- Stir in the crushed tomatoes, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- While the sauce simmers, blend the cottage cheese in a blender or food processor until smooth and creamy.
- Add the cottage cheese to the tomato sauce and stir until well combined.
- Simmer the sauce for an additional 5-7 minutes, stirring frequently, to allow the flavors to meld together.
- Stir in Parmesan cheese and chopped fresh basil (if using).
- Serve the sauce over your favorite pasta and enjoy!
Notes
- If you prefer a thinner sauce, add a splash of pasta water to achieve your desired consistency.
- This sauce can be made in advance and stored in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.
