Description

This creamy and healthy Cottage Cheese Pasta Sauce is a great alternative to traditional creamy sauces, providing a rich and tangy flavor with fewer calories. Perfect for any pasta dish!


Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups cottage cheese (low-fat or full-fat)
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup canned crushed tomatoes
  • 1/2 tsp dried oregano
  • 1/2 tsp dried basil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 tbsp fresh basil (chopped, optional)

Instructions

  • In a medium saucepan, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the garlic and sauté until fragrant, about 1-2 minutes.
  • Stir in the crushed tomatoes, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  • While the sauce simmers, blend the cottage cheese in a blender or food processor until smooth and creamy.
  • Add the cottage cheese to the tomato sauce and stir until well combined.
  • Simmer the sauce for an additional 5-7 minutes, stirring frequently, to allow the flavors to meld together.
  • Stir in Parmesan cheese and chopped fresh basil (if using).
  • Serve the sauce over your favorite pasta and enjoy!

Notes

  • If you prefer a thinner sauce, add a splash of pasta water to achieve your desired consistency.
