Description

This Bold & Smoky Coffee Rub is a robust blend designed to enhance the flavor of grilled or roasted meats. Combining freshly ground coffee with a medley of spices, it delivers a perfect balance of smokiness, sweetness, and heat that beautifully complements beef, pork, or chicken.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1/4 cup finely ground coffee (preferably dark roast)
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon smoked paprika
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon onion powder
  • 1 tablespoon kosher salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder

  • 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional, for extra heat)

Instructions

  • Mix the Spices:

    • In a small bowl, combine the ground coffee, brown sugar, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, kosher salt, black pepper, chili powder, and cayenne pepper (if using).
    • Stir well until all ingredients are evenly incorporated.
  • Application:

    • Generously rub the spice mix onto your choice of meat.
    • For best results, let the meat rest with the rub for at least 30 minutes (or up to 24 hours in the refrigerator) before cooking.
  • Cooking:

    • Grill, roast, or smoke your meat as desired. The rub will form a flavorful crust during cooking.

  • Storage:

    • Store any unused rub in an airtight container in a cool, dry place for up to 3 months.

Notes

  • Adjust the cayenne pepper to control the level of heat.
  • This rub works best when allowed to marinate on the meat for a longer period.
  • For an extra smoky flavor, try adding a small amount of chipotle powder.
