- 4 large croissants, preferably day-old
- 1 cup mixed berries (blueberries, raspberries, strawberries)
- 4 large eggs
- 1 cup whole milk
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1/3 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- Powdered sugar for dusting (optional)
- Butter for greasing the baking dish
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×9-inch baking dish with butter.
- Slice croissants in half or into chunks and place in the baking dish.
- Scatter mixed berries evenly over the croissants.
- In a bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, heavy cream, sugar, and vanilla extract.
- Pour the custard mixture evenly over the croissants and berries.
- Gently press the croissants to soak up the custard. Let sit for 10–15 minutes if time allows.
- Bake for 35–40 minutes, or until golden and set in the center.
- Cool slightly, then dust with powdered sugar and serve warm.
Notes
- Use stale croissants for better absorption and texture.
- You can prepare this dish the night before and bake it in the morning.
- Top with whipped cream or maple syrup for extra indulgence.
